Week Two: March 20th- 27th, 2021

Week Three: March 27th -April 3rd 2021

Imagine yourself relaxing in one of the most spectacular locations in the world. Enrich your yoga practice surrounded by rain forest, tropical flowers, toucans, parrots, iridescent blue butterflies floating by (each wing the size of your hand), the sounds of birds in the morning, and the cacophony of cicadas as the sun goes down. Enjoy your privacy in the boutique hotel’s modern, comfortable, and stylish villas. Situated high up on the mountainside, you will love the dramatic Pacific Ocean views. The high elevation offers cool breezes that relax your mind and body and enhance deep sleep. The villas have been designed with the heavenly views in mind. Soak in a free-standing tub or cool down in the infinity pool, while enjoying the panoramic views. There are two settings where you can enjoy your sunrise and sunset yoga sessions. Set aside a week to focus on total body health and spiritual well-being. De-stress. Rejuvenate. Enjoy. Rediscover your inner peace.

Booking Your Flights  (Please wait to book your flight until Fran contacts you to let you the retreat is filled up.)

Everyone will book flights to San Jose (SJO).

ARRIVAL TIME: Please book your flight so that you arrive no later than 1:00 pm on March 21 for Week One and on March 28 for Week Two in order to make the one-time group ground transportation Pick Up from the airport to the hotel. Our group transportation leaves the airport at 1:30pm on your arrival day.

(Hint: if your flight arrives later than 1pm, consider coming one day early and book a hotel near the San Jose airport and meet the group on 3/21/20 for Week One  at 1pm or on  3/28/20 for Week Two at 1pm.)

DEPARTURE TIME: For the return date, make sure to book flights departing after 1:00pm on March 28 for the first week and on April 4 for the second week, as we need to allow 6 hours (4 for the drive + 2 hours needed prior to your departure for international check in).

Notes about booking flights:

  • If you book flights arriving after 1:00 pm and departing before 1:00pm, you will also incur the cost for ground transportation. It is $220 each way for a private car.
  • I found that if it is difficult to book flights to fit our group shuttle pick up and departure times, it is worth while to arrive one day early and stay at a hotel near the airport.

About Fran:

Fran Gallo grew up in an Italian family in NW Indiana. She is the first family member born in the USA, her parents and sisters having immigrated to the USA from the small village of Grotte near Agrigento, Sicily. She is fluent in Italian and Sicilian. She graduated from Indiana University, studied French literature and culture at the Universite de Strasbourg in France for one year. Fran was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ziguinchor, Senegal, in West Africa. She later spent three years in Japan where she met her husband, Rick Clark.

Fran started practicing yoga as a means of releasing tension after long hours of working as an English Instructor at Green River Community College in Washington state. Love of yoga made Fran decide to devote herself to learning this meditative art in order to share its healing effects with others. In 1996, Fran was certified under Yogi Vikashananda in Nepal. She has been teaching ever since. According to Fran, the magic of yoga is in the discovery of being able to go beyond what we perceive as our limits and in the profound sense of peace and balance one feels after just one session of practice.

Fran’s teaching accommodates multi-level groups, includes concise verbal cues and gentle adjustments, and goes well beyond the physical aspect of Hatha Yoga. She attends yoga conferences and workshops regularly in order to continue her own yoga training. Some of Fran’s teachers include Angela Farmer, Judith Lasater, Erich Schiffmann, Donna Farhi, and Tias Little. Fran has recently taught/directed teacher training certification programs for the 200 hour level. She is also a Reiki practitioner.

Fran’s focus is on teaching in Seattle and continuing to offer retreats within the US and abroad.  Fran loves to travel and speaks a few foreign languages, including Italian, French, Spanish (some), Japanese (not fluently), and Wolof.  She sees life as a continual learning process.

Fran has been teaching Hatha yoga since 1996 and I loves the community she is a part of through her yoga practice and teaching. She regularly attends yoga conferences.  Fran also teaches Yoga Therapy for the Special Needs Child, an after school teaching/enrichment experience. Visit Fran’s website at
