About Your Instructor:

Tanika Houston is a mother, a friend, sports enthusiast, dancer, musical artist and Yoga Therapist who is certified and registered with the Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She began her studies at the Institute of Health and Healing in Newport News, Virginia. Her yoga and meditation classes can be found within the Clinical Wellness, Holistic Wellness and Physical Therapy departments of the Riverside Health System.

Born and raised in NY she now calls Hampton Roads home. Locals know her as NNTV’s host for Around Newport News. She has also been featured in various articles for the City of Newport News, of which students have given testimonials on how yoga has improved their inner spirit and physical abilities.

Many who enjoy her classes consider her to be a gift to humanity who utilizes her talents, skills and compassion to serve those who face life’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual challenges. Her own injuries and defeat of paralysis lead her to yoga and she believes anyone who opens their heart and mind to the joys of yoga can become whole.
